Day 04 : Chennai- Kanchipuram- Mamallapooram

KanchipuramEnjoy a sumptuous breakfast in your hotel after which you will be driven to Mamallapooram on the way visiting Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is the ancient capital of the Pallavas and is quite famous as a city of 1000 temples and 124 shrines. After reaching check into your hotel and relax awhile.
In the afternoon you will enjoy a sight seeing tour of the several antique sculptural marvels in the city. The seaside town is famous for its shrines huge sculpture of cut-out rocks dated back to more than 1200 years during the reign of the Pallava Kings(Pallavas were the Rulers of the ancient South Indian Kingdoms)  
 
The rock carvings tell mute tales of demons, Gods and animals in battle and others. The two-spired shrine is the only shore temple remained in the site. PondicherryEnjoy a delicious breakfast in the hotel. Afterwards you will be driven to Pondicherry on the way visiting Tiruvannamallai, a pilgrim centre with an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. You will have your lunch at Tiruvannamallai after which you will proceed ahead for Pondicherry. Pondicherry is a lovely town which carries a strong whiff of the then French stay in India. This former French colony on the east coast of South India merged with the rest of the country in 1954. There is also a legendary myth that Pondicherry is the place where the Indian Sage Agasthava settled down.

After your enthralling tour get back to hotel and stay overnight.

Day 06 : Pondicherry

After your breakfast you will be driven to Aurobindo Ashram which is 10 kilometres north of Pondicherry. The Ashram ideally promotes Aurobindo’s ideas in bringing about a fusion of Yoga and modern science with the theme to unite spirit and matter. After lunch visit Auroville, a place with a unique experiment in International living. The place strives in creating a new environment where men and women of all nationalities live together in perfect harmony to one another.

After your trip return back to Pondicherry and stay overnight in your hotel.

Nataraja templeEnjoy your breakfast after which you will be driven to Chidambaram which is 65 kilometres route from Pondicherry covered in 1.5 hours. Chidambaram is also known as Thillai and it is famous for the Nataraja temple. The place is a must to see site with its roof of the sanctum- sanctorum covered with golden plates. The temple is located in the centre of the town covering an area of 40 acres. The temple presents postures from the Bharatnatyam( a famous classical dance of India) depicted in its sculptures. The Nataraja temple is also a must to see site in Chidambaram. After lunch you will be driven to Thanjavur which is 104 kilometres route covered in 3 hours. On the way you will visit Brass factory at Kumbakonam. Tanjore which was onve the Capital pf Chola Kings( a south Indian Kingdom rulers) has the Brahadeswara temple( the big temple of God).

Day 08 : Tanjore- Trichy

Ranganath temple at SrirangamAfter your breakfast you will set forth for Trichy( Trichupalli) which is situated on the banks of the Kaveri River. Trichy is a holy city which shares an exquisite fraternity of history and tradition. The city is famous for the Ranganath temple at Srirangam. After reaching Trichy check into your hotel. After lunch enjoy a city tour visiting Rock Fort and its temple. You can also visit Srirangam and Jambukeshwar temple.

Day 11 : Madurai- Trivandrum

The place is an important pilgrim centre in India and it is famous for the Amman Temples- a symbol of unity and sanctity,dedicated to the virgin Goddess Kanya Kumari.
