The Thousand Lights MosqueLocated at the crossroad of Mount Road and Peters Road is the Thousand Lights Mosque built by the Nawab of Arcot in the 1880's. Spread over three acres of land, the place derived its name following the illumination of its assembly hall by1000 oil lamps. The structure is multi-domed building with two exalting minarets rising to a height of 64 feet above the ground. The mosque has a separate place of worship for the women and also houses a library, a burial ground and guesthouses. Sayings from the Koran have been painted on the walls of the mosque.
